Uncover a world of possibilities on these remote and captivating islands. Whether you’re seeking majestic natural beauty, enriching cultural experiences, or the possibility of seeing the northern lights, this is the tour for you.  From breathtaking hikes across untouched landscapes and unforgettable boat trips through dramatic fjords to intimate cultural events and expert travel tips from a loca guide, many opportunities await discovery. Join us in this adventure to the heart of the Faroe Islands, where every experience is as unique as the islands themselves.

Keep in mind that our itinerary is dependent on the weather.  The British were noted for saying that the Faroe Islands are the “land of maybe.  So, if it dawns clear and sunny, we may switch our activities so that we can go to sites on that day where we need a clear view.  We will attempt to see everything listed below, just perhaps in a different order.

Day 1

Arrive in Tórshavn

Arrive in the afternoon, check-into Hotel Hafnia, and meet your tour leader and group for an orientation dinner.  Meals included: dinner.

Day 2

Tórshavn

Today’s focus is a two-hour walking tour of Tórshavn to help you get your bearings for the week.  Marvel at the grass-roofed Tinganes peninsula, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Tórshavn Cathedral.  Wind your way through the narrow streets in the Old Town Reyni where houses are painted black and roofs clad with sod.  Finish off by visiting the fortress Skansin.  And we’ll end up at one of the local breweries for those who want a beer with their lunch.    Meals included: breakfast.

Day 3

Tórshavn

This tour takes you through many of the most impressive spots in the Faroe Islands. Elsa Maria picks you up, and takes you by car through the islands of Streymoy, Eysturoy, and Vágar. You will get to see incredible spots, such as “Gásadalur”, “Risin og Kellingin”, and “Saksun.”  Our local guide to the Faroe Islands is Elsa Maria Baerentsen who was born and raised in Tórshavn.  Meals included: breakfast.

We will drive towards Bø and on our way we will see Drangarnir and Tindhólmur to continue to Gásadalur to look at Múlafossur. Having experienced Vágar from land, now we’ll take the boat tour, so we can discover the magnificent Vágar island from the ocean. Activity Level

Moderate

Activities are generally not very strenuous; however, we expect guests to enjoy two hours or more of walking, be sure-footed on cobbled surfaces, and walk up and down stairs without assistance. In rural and small-town settings, unpaved roads and pathways will be common with some short sections of rough trail, which we expect that guests can traverse with no more than a companion’s hand to steady them. Historic city centers are frequently more accessible by foot than a vehicle, and sometimes your motorcoach can’t drop you off at the hotel and site entrances. Due to the structure of some buildings, facilities for the disabled may be limited.
